TEACHERS

The staff of the Rochester Church Preschool understands that your child is your most prized possession. When we are entrusted to care for a child, it is not a responsibility that we take lightly. We provide a safe, loving environment in which your child can become confident and self-assured during these formative years. We commit to doing everything in our power to ensure that your child’s first experience in school is both fun and educational. The full-time staff members of the Rochester Church Preschool are licensed early childhood educators. Lead Teachers hold a minimum of a Bachelors degree with a major or minor in education or a child related field from an accredited college or university. All Assistant Teachers will have extensive experience and/or education in child care and development. Each staff member is screened by the Department of Human Services and the Michigan State Police to ensure that there are no prior criminal or child-related crimes on his/her record. In addition, each staff member is trained in first aid, CPR, the handling of blood borne pathogens and completes no less than 12 clock hours of continuing education in a child-related field per school year.

Miss Karen - Lead Teacher, Preschool

Karen is the Preschool Lead Teacher. Karen attended Harding University where she studied Social Work. In 2000, Karen and her family moved from Michigan to Texas where, after years of being a stay- at-home mom, she began teaching preschool and absolutely fell in love with it. In addition to teaching in the traditional classroom setting, Karen has also taught PE and music to children ages 2-5. We are grateful that Karen returned to Michigan and was willing to bring her passion and experience to RCP. She and her husband, Dave, currently live in Clarkston and have three children ages, 19, 15 and 13. Karen is looking forward to spending time with our three year olds and is excited about getting to know our preschool families.
